I haven't been blogging for a while, things are nuts around here. I found out today that I have to have an upper epidoscomy or some shit where they stick a scope down my throat. F that! I can't stand it when people stick shit in my mouth. I hate the Dentist. Sometimes its even hard for me to brush my teeth way in the back. Aaarrggg!!
One positive thing about it though, I will be so drugged up I won't have any idea what's going on anyway. They say I could have a number of things wrong with me. Cancer is highly unlikely, but there is a chance... pray for me if you pray, if not, just give me hope somehow. Ulcers, bleeding, excessive acid, etc. I just want to get it over with and be normal again.
They also tell me I need to quit smoking, drinking, caffeine, spicy foods.... Pretty much all the things I actually enjoy putting in my mouth. It all pisses me off....
Another positive thing going on I am finally getting out to go snowboarding this weekend. Angel Fire Resort, Saturday. I will be competing in the Boarder X competition, wish me luck. It will be fun regaurdless. Well, I'll take some snappy photos for your enjoyment and post them when I get a chance. Peace!!!
For years I have found myself saying that I am going to do things, accomplish things, go places, etc. and never really getting around to doing all of them. I have goals in my life that I want to accomplish and unless I get started with them, I'm not sure that I will ever accomplish them. I always seem to find a reason as to why I shouldn't do these things I say I am going to do. Then I always find myself telling myself that I should have done that thing I told myself I was going to do.
Well, not this year. This year I am going to start doing these things I have always said I was going to do. For starters, I will be going back to school starting the 15th of this month. But I am not going to stop there. I am going to make a list of all the things I want to accomplish before I die. Like making a goal list or like that new movie that just came out, a "Bucket List." I will evaluate each goal separately and decide the steps I need to take in order to accomplish these goals.
I can hear you now... "Ya right, whatever, everyone says this...." damnit I am going to do it. I started off the year by saying I had a mission of lucid dreaming, I have made very good progress in that mission. I haven't had a lucid dream yet but since I am focusing on that, I can remember my dreams more easily. I used to remember maybe one dream per night if I was lucky. Well, now I am steadily remembering at least three dreams per night. The problem I am having is that I am waking up after each one that I remember. I am working on that though.
Oh and another thing I am going to do is find out the answers to my questions right away. Whenever I say "I wonder if..." I will find the answer to that question no matter what it takes. Also, I plan to go snowboarding at least 3 times this year. Stay tuned.....
Earlier I posted a blog called discrimination that was basically a hit to all those rich uppity ski resorts that do not allow any riders. Well guess what? Taos Ski Valley in New Mexico has just announced that starting in March 2008, snowboarders are welcome. I guess they figured out that riders do actually pay to ride on mountains. They probably all got together and had an all day meeting to discuss this issue. I can see it now...... "DON'T ALLOW THEM HOODLUMS ON OUR SLOPES!!" "But we need the money." "THEY ARE ALL BIG DUMMIES!!" "But money is good." "Did the maid leave the iron on?" "Who wants tea?" "What were we talking about?" "Oh ya, money." "Ok, let the little uneducated punks come ride our mountain, but we will not be nice to them." "Golf anyone?"
The season is getting closer. A bunch of snow got dumped up here so the slopes will be opening a bit early. Can't wait.
Nothing much to say today except for T-day I smoked a turkey and let me tell you, it was the best damn turkey I have had. I used cherry wood chips and injected the turkey with a special sauce to give it a spicy touch. So it was sweet on the outside and just a tad spicy on the inside. Sweet and spicy. MMMmmmmm, sweet and spicy.
The definition of discrimination is unfair treatment of a person or group on the basis of prejudice. The word comes from the latin word "discriminare" which means to distinguish between. Discrimination and prejudice are two words that are used one in the same. Prejudice is a pre-judgment of a person(s) or group(s) for the way they act, look, or even for what they are involved with. Disparate treatment with discrimination would involve setting a condition or a requirement that would allow a smaller proportion of those that have the attribute to be able to comply, without reasonable justification.
Do you see where I am going with this? There are ski resorts out there that do not allow snowboarding. How is it that this is not discrimination? It seems to me that one group of individuals has a prejudice against another and acts upon this prejudice. This may be bold words but I feel it is an issue that needs to be addressed. Think about it. Not too long ago there were public schools and public facilities that did not allow people of any color on the premisces. You are probably saying to yourself right now, "what?? No way that ever happened!!" Well, yes it did, and now, the same thing is happening on our ski resorts.
What is it about the snowboarding community that has these resorts banning them from entering their property? The last time I checked, snowboarding was an olympic sport. Which means that the entire world recognizes it as a respectable sport, except for these resorts that do not allow them on the property. Is there some sort of stereotype given to snowboarders that make each one a pot smoking rift raft that does nothing but cause trouble everywhere they go? If anything, allowing ALL snow sports at a ski resort would only bring in more money. That is what these rich uppity a**holes are looking for right? More money.
Some resorts of note that do not allow snowboarding are Taos, New Mexico, Deer Valley, Utah, and Alta in Utah. These are a few of the resorts that we snowboarders cannot go to when we want to ride. I took it upon myself to call one of these resorts, Taos, and ask them why they do not allow snowboarding. The response given to me was that it was just company policy. When asked if they felt that this was discriminatory the response was again, just company policy.
This is getting a bit long so I'll be quick about my feelings on this. Whatever it is that makes thee uppity a**holes think that their Sh*t don't stink, think again. I am sending out a message to all you stuck up, persnickety, selfish, discriminating jerks (to put it lightly) that snowboarding is a respectable sport and we will not set back and be discriminated against. Most boarders are a hundred times more talented than you rich, snobby people and none of us are prejudice against doing something you love. We don't discriminate against you so don't do it to us. The ONLY resort that was ever made that did not allow skiiers, Green Valley in California, was burnt down. Probably by you idiots. Take heed you discriminating skiers, one day, it will be our turn.
Since we are on the subject of snowboarding, and I think I have figured out what I am going to base this blog on, something I love, I am going to go ahead and raise my fist to the infamous Jake Burton Carpenter. If you know anything about boarding then you know who this man is. The founder of Burton Snowboards and creator of my favorite snowboard (at the moment) the Burton Twin Series.
Mr. Burton did something that most of us only dream of doing and followed what his passion is despite breaking his collar bone a few times in the process. One of these days I hope to follow in his footsteps to do what I have always dreamed of doing. He has provided the world with means to pursue the fun in life that we all desire. So here's to you Mr. Burton, bottoms up!!
Oh and to pump you up even more for the season, check out this video. SICK!!
I don't know about any of you, but I snowboard and I am pretty disappointed at the snowfall so far this year. Whats the matter? Where is it? Is this the impact of global warming? I remember a couple years ago there was very little snow. I live in the 505 area and last year we had the most snow to ever hit the area. So far this year, nothing. Do I need to get out there and do a snow dance or something? Cuz I will. Here are some pics to get you pumped for the season.
